[MV Review] Hyolyn X JooYoung - "Erase"

Taking a break from groups, I decided to check out Hyolyn and JooYoung's latest collaboration.

What I like about the song is that it's not your typical k-pop ballad. It's slow but it has beats to support it. It's slightly upbeat but it's easy listening. Hyolyn's known outside of Sistar for her vocals, but she keeps them soothing and low throughout the song. There was a rap, but it wasn't bombastic or loud, but kept low to it's advantage. I think it's a nice song and it has a very pretty sound to it. It's not a masterpiece or anything but it's definitely worth a few listens.

What keeps the song from going from good to great is the lack of climax. It's a song that could get away with it gaining some epic-ness, it's a small complaint but still, I was waiting for a little progress. The MV is typical for what you'd expect from a female-male collaboration over the past few years thanks to Rihanna and Eminiem. It's not a blatant copy by any means but the scenes with them dancing remind me of Troublemaker's "Now" which remind everybody of "Love the Way You Lie." But the MV is still very beautifully shot with some very pretty filters.

The highlight of the MV for me was the bartender. He was fine as hell.

Overall I give this a 4/5 because the song is decent and the mv has a fine-as-hell bartender.
