Miss A- "Hush"(허쉬) Song and MV Review

For starters I want to say I'm loving the current use of authentic guitars in KPOP lately. It's very smooth and just brings a lot of freshness to the track. There's just something about authentic guitars that add a sort of fresher and unique taste to a song, and Miss A's "Hush" is not exception.

With that said, "Hush" is a very nice song. It's very reminiscent to T-ARA's "Number 9" that came out last month, with the whole authentic guitar and even the two video has that sort of creepy vampy look.

But that's not to say that the video's and songs are exactly the same. "Number 9" was more clubby, vampy and sexy in the typical KPOP way with sets and the members doing random stuff. "Hush" however has more creepiness and sexy to it. For the past year Miss A has been doing a more creepily sexy concept that started with "Touch" and worked it's way to this. It's good, with good vocals and good vocals. The song is just GOOD. E-Tribe is known for his work on "Gee", "U-Go-Girl" ect… And while people may be disappointed that "Hush" is no "Gee",  it's still a totally awesome track to me.

Overall the video has a dark setting, with the members in black and pleather while wearing lots of dark make-up. Although they are doing some pretty weird things with random objects, or nothing at all with them, the video focus's more on the dancing qualities. I also notice the usage of water in the MV as well with Fei's teaser. I don't know why but I like it.

Overall, I'm excited for their 2nd full length album. I hear it will contain hits like "I Don't Need a Man" and "Touch" along with other songs off their last couple of mini albums/ projects. So I feel that it will be a good album.

Random Throwback: F(x) "NU ABO" Mini Album Review

I don't get the cover, but I like it.

F(x) is one of the most successful girl groups out there. Their debut single "LA chA TA" won over many people and was an overall an awesome song. So when SM announced their first mini-album, it was highly anticipated.

NU ABO contains some of F(x)'s best songs in my opinion, and with their new album "Pink Tape" it shows that F(x) has definitely not stopped pleasing their fans, like me. So, with that said in honor of their success following their senior groups, Girls' Generation (SNSD), and SHINee ect… I figure, might as well do the first random throwback in honor of their come up.

The track list:

01. NU ABO
02. Mr. Boogie
03.아이스크림 (Ice Cream)
04. Me+U
05. Surprise Party
06. Sorry (Dear. Daddy)

01. "NU ABO": 5/5

I grew up on the south side of Chicago. So naturally it's practically embedded in my blood to have a love for hip-hop/rap/gangsta rap and Jazz. So when I heard the heavy bass and the catchy chorus I was automatically hooked. For some people it took a while to get used to, but not me. Everyone sounds good and Krystal's hairstyle for the MV was trippy in the best way. The crowed in the back matches the "basketball game" like music in the background. Amber's rap in the middle was great as well, and the high notes towards the end are truly amazing. "NU ABO" is one of my favorite F(x) songs of all time, I've listened to it a bunch of times and I'll listen to it a bunch more.

02. "Mr. Boogie" 4.5/5

This is the real Mr. Boogie. Not kidding.

F(x) along with SHINee have always had more creepy songs than their seniors such as SNSD or SuJu. Queen BoA has had a few but I think that's because they can pull it off. Can you really see SNSD and SuJu singing about a urban legend child thief? With that said "Mr. Boogie" is  no exception to the creepiness of some of F(x)'s songs. It has a slow electronic beat to it, with a creepy synthesizer occasionally and if a movie was made about the actual legend of Mr. Boogie, I would definitely pick this song. It has a nice vibe and stands out a lot on this album out side of "NU ABO" because it sounds more mature. Majority of the album is Bubblegum Pop so "Mr. Boogie" was a nice twist.

03. "아이스크림 (Ice Cream)": 5/5

"Ice Cream" is another one of my faves. It's cutesy but not in the fake annoying way like some songs are. It like a weird blend of cutesy and sexy. It is VERY much like SNSD's "Show! Show! Show!" off their second album Oh/Run Devil Run and almost every SONE I've met has listed "Show! Show! Show!" as one of their faves, me included. Amber's rap in the middle was a bit awkward, I feel the English wasn't written to her bad-ass rapping standards. In fact when I first heard it, I laughed. But that assigned the beat is sexy and electronic but still cute and the lyrics are the same. It's definitely up their with some of their best, so this one gets a 5/5 from me!

04. "Me+U": 4.5/5

Something about this song makes me sing. Props go to who ever made the instrumental because this is song is all fun. It's like the crack album because when you listen to it you think bright colors and lots of bouncy dancing. The chorus is so cute addictive, the verses are decent enough. The bridge is a nice slow down and towards the end it gets real nice and fun. If you liked "Ice Cream" then you should like it just fine.

05. "Surprise Party": 5/5

I want this played/ sung at my birthday parties. It's basically another birthday song. I heard this once and was humming it throughout the whole day. I feel like it's somewhat special, I really enjoyed this. The instrumental is R&B upbeat, that's the best I can describe it. The vocals are nice in this one and bridge is nice, like something out of an old school 90's track. The song is kind of 90's R&B in fact. The lyrics get more romantic near the end and the little "Happy Birthday!" at the end was really cute. I find this track very pleasing to the ears.

06. "Sorry (Dear. Daddy)" [Luna+Krystal Ballad]: 5/5

I don't know why but I was expecting something like SNSD's "Dear. Mom" off their Gee mini album. Like a sequel considering It's practically the same title. And I did. It's a very solid ballad with a nice smooth beat. I love "Dear. Mom" and I like this song as well. Heck, the lyrics are even the same: apologizing to you're mom/dad for being a butt-wad. I just feel a little nicked because I wish the other members could have joined in on the action. It's not like Amber can't sing, her singing voice is very soft and pretty, so that can't be an excuse. Maybe it's a deeper reason I got to look into. But Luna and Krystal sing the song very, very well and the instrumental flows with their voices beautifully. Again, I wish the other members could have sung as well but since this is a solid ballad I'll give it a 5/5.

****NOTE**** I know it's been like an SM Fest on this blog. I promise I'll review some other artist soon.

TroubleMaker-"내일은 없어 (Now)" Song and MV Review

For starters I'm going to say this: I like this pairing. I've liked them since their debut in fact. The songs are really good, "Troublemaker" was one of the best songs of 2011/2012 and overall the two together make a good combo. Hyunseung is creepy and hot and HyunA is vampy and hot while both being talented, so good combo.

What I didn't like about their debut was the MV, it was just not well planned, it had some good moments but overall it was awkward and funny. But the song was still really good.

However "There is No Tomorrow (Now)" has both a good song and MV. I see Hyunseung and HyunA are keeping their semi-jazzy/ mellow/ hip-hop sexy sound which works really well for them. The song is very strange, almost like F(x)'s "Rum Pum Pum Pum" it's sounds strange but is still really good.  While "Rum Pum Pum Pum" has more percussion instruments which gave it an authentic feel, "Now" has more saxophone and synthesizer sound to it which gives it that nitty-gritty feel. Very cool.

On to the MV. If you saw the regular version, it leaves a bit too much to the imagination which is fine. The un-cut version shows the whole story and such, filling in the gaps that the original version was missing. I prefer the un-cut version because both suffice.

Basically the story-line is this: Hyunseung is a hit-man that makes a lot of money. HyunA is his girlfriend. They have a dangerous and bi-polar relationship. One moment they're tearing each others throats out, the next they're getting it on in their car and trailer.

It seems to both be tearing them apart as you see shots of them feeding their own addictions. HyunA's addictions include going to clubs, defacing paintings and Budweiser.

And Hyunseung's addictions include money, cigarettes and white girls.

But both seem to enjoy general substance abuse.

But in the end you see that they have shared some really good moments together as a couple. But these moments happen when HyunA is outside the trailer worried sick about Hyunseung's life and rather he'll make it back from his "job."

In the middle you get them tango/ball room dancing in a dark setting, and also of them dancing while two race cars spin continuously around them.

The MV matches that nitty-gritty slow like feel that the song has, I'm not sure if you'd call it "a hipsters wet dream" because it doesn't give off that feel (but then again Hyunseung does make a lot of money. I don't know, maybe they're trying to be off the map and non-obvious?) And yes, it is a lot like Rihanna's "We Found Love" but that's not to say it's not worth a watch.  This is really shocking to KPOP standards, that is if you know anything about KPOP, so when you see the little red 19 in the upper right corner, you'll know why.

On that note, now that Hyunseung and HyunA are becoming more popular with this comeback maybe their next comeback can be even more sophisticated. Hell what will catch peoples attention if it's there is no real sex appeal in the MV and is of them playing checkers, reading comics, or some adventure out in the jungle. That will get people talking.

I give this comeback 5/5 Budweiser product placements.

EVERYBODY LOVES SHINee: SHINee "Everybody" Mini-Album Review

SHINee just dropped their new mini-album about a week ago and I'm here to review each track and share my opinion on the album as well as rate them.

Tracklist:

01. Everybody
02.상사병 (Symptoms)
03.빗 속 뉴욕 (Queen of New York)
04.1분만 (One Minute Back)
05. Destination
06.닫아줘 (Close the Door)
07. Colorful

Concept: Military/ Soldier (Similar to SNSD's "Genie" Concept)

Let's Start:

01. EVERYBODY: 5/5

At first listen, it's kind of like you're just feeling out the song, getting used to it's rhythm. Then eventually it will get into your mind, suck you in, and you will be singing the chorus throughout the entire day or humming if you're me. "EVERYBODY, EVERYBODAE, EVERY-EVERY EVERYBODY!" It's an awesome song, Minho's singing, and every bodies jamming during the song. The complextro (dub-step's brother) mixed with the 1980's grove during the versus and the video game beeps during the end makes, and the lyrics are all about letting out your inner child, this makes "Everybody" a good song.

02. 상사병 (SYMPTOMS): ONEW/5

Anything with an Onew/5 is dayum good! Everybody loves Symptoms. It's a slow, R&B, smooth song with incredible vocals and an awesome beat. The chorus is so pretty and the song is delivered in a basket of sexiness. Jonghyun wrote the lyrics himself. The lyrics aren't that sexy, the lyrics are the most depressing thing on the planet. But they have meaning to them, and you can really feel the song, everybody sings it so well. Symptoms is amazing, point blank.

03. 빗 속 뉴욕 (QUEEN OF NEW YORK): 4.7/5

While Symptoms was slow and sweet, Bitsok Nu Yok or Queen of New New York, is more fun and "groovy." It's more of a dance track and really easy to enjoy. Nothing really yelling at your or just real flashy, it's just a fun song. I like it, I give it a four out of five. The lyrics are about this girl and how she's all glamorous, really similar to "Dynamite" on their "Dream Girl: The Misconceptions of You album."

04. 1분만 (ONE MINUTE BACK): 5/5

This song has more hip-hop in the beginning, it's very, very awesome. Just how the song is composed overall is enough to have you dancing or bobbing your head at first listen. The clock really brings the since of time, plus the harmonization is always great with SHINee. But in this song, there is har-mo-nee! Minho's raps are always a pleasure, and the bridge is really stripped unlike the rest of the song. It's really like old school SHINee in the best song. The lyrics are about catching their girl cheating and wanting to turn back time. It's One of my favorite songs on the album. Two thumbs up.

05. DESTINATION: 5/5

Again, this is another well produced track. The songs very upbeat and the boys are singing their hearts out throughout the whole song. The more I think about the music, and the lyrics are both very epic. It has a more A-Yo feel, only these lyrics are more about "what am I doing with my life," "what is my destination?" The chorus is catchy as hell with na, na, na's, and the "my(a) destination" that follows after. Jonghyun's high notes in the bridge followed along with Minho and Key's rapping really worked. Plus Onew and Taemin were awesome as always. I love it, this another one of my favorites.

06. 닫아줘 (CLOSE THE DOOR): 5/5

A nice slow/groove song. Like something you hear on the Smooth Jazz 95.5 station before when it was smooth jazz and not Spanish music. It's very soothing, something you'd put on during Christmas while the snow is falling out side the window and you're snuggled by the fire place sipping hot chocolate. Their voices are not belting, their a lot softer which is complicated by the violins/viola's in the background. Minho's rap in the middle is kind of awkward it doesn't really fit, and it weren't for the instrumental it would have ruined it. Not that his rapping is bad, it just doesn't fit the mellow track. But it only last like thirty-seconds and he's not belting out his rap, he still maintains the softness of the track so it's not that bad. Since everything else is brilliant I give it 5/5.

07. COLORFUL: 4.5/5

It's a decent song, just not really blowing me away. It's more electronic/pop and dancing They're still singing their hearts out, it's still catchy, and it's uplifting. I like it a lot it's a lot of fun. It reminds me of "Ready or Not" almost. The bridge is real nice as well, it adds another element to the song. Other than that it's just that, it's just a nice upbeat song, good if you're in a bad mood and need some a picker up. But then again you could easily go to Everybody as well for that, I guess if you didn't like Everybody you could go to this. Still a good song though.

OVERALL: 4.7/5

I give this album a 4.7/5 which is good. I'm still going to get the physical addition. It's probably my favorite SHINee mini-album. I love it and I keep on replaying it, I definitely recommend this to any SHINee fan. I feel if they would have replaced "Colorful" with another track, or added a track then it would have been a 5/5 or even a Onew/5. But that's not to say this mini-album isn't dope. Definitely give it a listen if you haven't, I think us Shawols will enjoy it the most.

What were your thoughts on the album?

SHINee

This is just a review of SHINee the band, not the new Everybody mv/mini-album. I'll do that next.

SHINee is my favorite boy band. Okay one of them, Big Bang, SHINee, and BAP all hole the #1 spot. But SHINee it's all about SHINee today.

Onew
Onew is truly amazed by either Joon's abs or himself. Both are things to be amazed by.

Ohhhhhh mah Jinki! If you've read one of my earlier you know my feels for him.
Birth name: Lee Jinki
Birthday: December 14 1989
Position: Leader and Lead Vocalist
Nickname: Dubu
Talent: ONEW/5
***NOTE*** If I give anything an Onew/5 that means it's dayum good! I've never really heard anything like Onew's voice before, it's like smooth and husky at the same time. It's slightly deep, sexy, and relaxing. His dancing is even unique, it's not Taemin but it's still very good and interesting to watch since his body is build in huggable manner.

Personality: ONEW/5
He's awkward, adorable, sweetheart, shy, and mellow. Onew practically owns this unique (I'm going to keep using unique when it comes to Onew) personality. Anybody that hates him can take a foot up the ass.

Sight: ONEW/5
Let's face it, everything about Onew is unique, even the way he looks. Big Bang's Daesung and him slightly resemble each other but that's as close as I've gotten. Onew is just uniquely sexy/hot/cute wrapped all into one beautiful package.

Jonghyun
Jonghyun is drooling over Key's ass. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Jonghyun's not my favorite member SHINee, there's nothing wrong with him, he's really talented he's just doesn't speak that much to me.
Birth name: Kim Jonghyun
Birthday: April 8, 1990
Position: Main Vocalist
Nickname: Bling, Bling

Talent: 5/5
Jonghyun's voice makes up for his disappearing dancing. Jonghyun has a nice R&B voice with a lot of soul. He can reach high notes good and is an excellent vocalist. But that's all I recognize him for. When he sings he steals the show, then it's like he fades into the back when his turns up. I say disappearing dancing because I can't really pinpoint really gazing at Jonghyun's dancing. But when you do pay attention he's pretty good and his songwriting is awesome too.

Personality: 4/5
Jonghyun's personality is conflicting. He talks a lot and sometimes people who talk a lot are annoying, he can be cocky as hell so that can be both funny and annoying, he can be a bit ratchet which is hilarious and annoying. But you can't hate him because at the end of the day he's not harmful and he's pretty adorable and funny at times.

Sight: 4.5/5
Jonghyun's hot. Not as hot as Onew though. You can say what you want about his nose, but it doesn't bother me not 1% and his hair is awesome, plus his eyes are beautiful. But he's still not as hot as Onew.

Key
Key is the King Bee. Respect.

Key is the one you either hate or love. I love.
Birth name: Kim Kibum
Birthday: September 23, 1991
Position: Lead rapper, Vocalist and Visual
Nickname: Almighty Key

Talent: 5/5
Key's good at rapping, he's really good at singing, and he's good at dancing. He's an all-rounder in my opinion. His voice is more distinguished and easy to recognize not matter what he's doing and he puts his all into everything.

Personality: 5/5
Almighty Key indeed. Key's known for his strong personality, so like it or not, Key's just honest. And honesty is something he and his husband value so he may come off backhanded (or ready to backhand a b!tch.) But he's not mean about it, and he is apologetic. Key is also funny and happy while also maintaining his "umma" status (which fits him perfectly.) He's just more of a complex person with a lot of sass so take it or leave it.

Sight: 4.9/5
When I look at Key, something about him seems gorgeous and untouchable. I don't know if it's his jaw, high cheek bones, or his intimidating cat eyes, but he has a certain something about him that you don't see in just everybody. He has something that screams "I'm fabulous" and he works anything that SM throws at him. With his love for eyeliner and pink he makes sure he's Almighty Key.

Minho
The day Taemin turned 19(18) was the happiest day of Minho's life :)

What to say, what to say, what to say...
Birth name: Choi Minho
Birthday: December 9, 1991
Nickname: Flaming Charisma
Postion: Main rapper, and Visual

Talent 4.7/5
Minho raps well, his voice has changed from their debut though. Before it was higher in my opinion but now it's a little more deep. His singing is mediocre but better, his dancings always been good and cute. He's like the decent one of SHINee. Not a lot to say. Some say he has no talent what so ever. I disagree he has talent and people would see that if SM would let him get more shots in, I see they have been lately so that's good. Not really a lot to say though.

Personality: 4/5
Minho is a person that doesn't do a lot of talking but will. I remember how he used to just sit there like a robot and then on Hello Baby! he wouldn't stop XD. I guess he's just complicated or just observant of his surroundings. He's a unique character alright. I honestly don't have a problem with him at all. He's silent but can be goofy and fun as well.

Sight: 4.9/5
Minho's what you would call "easy on the eyes." He has a long build for a body and a god for a face. Hottest frog I've ever seen, but still not as hot as Onew.

Taemin
Taemin is now TaeMan. But still adorable.

A household name for a reason!
Birth name: Lee Taemin
Birthday: July 18, 1993
Nickname: Taeminnie, TaeMan
Postion: Vocalist, Main Dancer, and Maknae

Talent: ONEW/5
Taemin is probably SHINee's second most talented person in my opinion. His voice has wickedly improved along with Key's his dancing is just phenomenal, I don't think I've ever heard him rap outside of "Get It" and I giggled at that. Taemin is just great and nobody can really deny that he is gifted.

Personality: 5/5
He's a mixture between a five year old child and 25 year old man. He's sweet, calm, and tender but has his bratty moments like any other human being. He's known for being sweet and innocent, while being determined and strong. Majority of KPOP fans know of Taemin probably because he's the hardest person in the world to dislike. You really have no choice but to like Taemin and that's because he's just awesome!

Sight: 5/5
Up until a year or two ago, Taemin was jailbait. Now that he's older the not-anymore-pedo-noonas and not-anymore-pedo-hyungs don't have to hold back their urges to praise Taemin's ever growing sexiness. Taemin has been far from unattractive since day 1. When he debuted he was cute and adorable, then everybody said he got girly with the Lucifer and Sherlock hair extensions, now that he's getting older he's getting freakishly masculine and sexy, but he can still at times look girly depending on what SM throws at him. I likey Taemin.

SHINee

Talent: 5/5
One of SM's more talented groups, SHINee is highly popular around Asia and internationally because, well, they are really talented. There's not a single member that doesn't have a purpose in the group.

Personality: 5/5
SHINee's over ally personality is strong when you have five extremely different ones walking around. You have adorkable Onew, cocky Jong, diva Key, awkward Minho, and sweet Taemin. They all have very distinctive personalities that rarely clash and runs as smooth as a well oiled machine.

Sight: 5/5
"SHINee are sexies" is a comment under one of their videos on YouTube, while I am still laughing my ass off at the crazy grammar, I agree. I believe that their talent is up to par with their looks. Even though I couldn't really care about how they look, SHINee isn't even necessarily marketed off their looks or sexiness if you ask me, they just kind of are sexy without trying. Two sexy thumbs up! XD
